Recently I posted a Facebook status update: “to all you “spiritual” people that complain about bible thumpers… it’s a symptom of your deep subconscious beliefs, your inner guilt about not believing in Christianity. You refused to own your inner bible thumper, and now you just projected it onto other people. You scream bloody murder and whine and complain about how “narrow-minded” Christians are, when the real problem is deep within you. You feel guilty about denying the Christian faith, and instead of pretending that you don’t like the Bible, why not own that part of yourself? Are you emotionally triggered by this post? THen Good! Read this book called “darkside of the light chasers” by Debbie Ford and you’ll understand what I’m talking about. Own your shadow self and stop playing the victim.”

Clearly, a bunch of people were emotionally triggered by this, and it started a lengthy conversation of 24 comments. People expressed their problems with Christianity and organized religion, and talking about how they hate it when people shove any kind of religion down their throat. Which reminded me of when I was a kid in elementary school, when my teachers told us not to write essays about God, religion, politics because they’re “offensive”.

On internet forums, you can often see in the forum rules “avoid talking about religion and politics”.

But don’t you guys see that God plays such a HUGE role in our lives? Why not talk about it? People avoid it because it’s so powerful, why not just embrace it?
